  Roberts Companies is looking for a CAD Drafter 2 for our client located in Ontario, CA.  This is a Contract to Hire position.       

   

 

Job Summary:           

This is an intermediate level position requiring some independent responsibility in resolving problems, handling communications, and understanding department and work unit procedures. This level performs non-routine drafting assignments of moderate complexity from rough or general drawings, sketches, or layouts. This includes drawing irregular shapes, multiple functions, and precise positional relationships between components. Work is performed independently after initial assignment with advice provided by supervisor or engineering/designer personnel. Generally, this position requires coordination of own work details with other groups or sections within the department. The incumbent may be required to give technical advice to the Drafter 1.

Duties & Responsibilities:

With minimal supervision, will provide:

  • diagrams, schematics, layouts, multiview, and various drawings to scale in accordance with clients' requests.
  • mathematical, geometrical, and minor engineering computations.
  • to scale engineering drawings using basic drafting tools and computer aided drafting system
  • detailed design drawings and related specifications of civil/ electrical equipment according to engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts
  • o This would include structure, schematic, foundation, grounding, steel, layout, equipment, apparatus, wiring, panel, AC&DC, one lines, and other type drawings necessary to produce substation, relay, and line design job packages

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of training at a technical school or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in the preparation of engineering drawings and diagrams as a Drafter 1
  • Prefer a background in civil/structural, land development, or GIS. Specific experience in T&D would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microstation a plus
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or Land Desktop a plus
  • Strong PC/IT skills ( i.e., Word, Excel, etc)

Maintenance Planner/Scheduler

This Position is located in an industrial area.  The product produced is Chlorine.  Previous Refinery or Manufacturing is REQUIRED.  Local candidates desired.

Job Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Scope: Planner/Scheduler position is responsible for the effective execution of all outage and maintenance work control processes. He / she is responsible to the Maintenance Manager for the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling all resources to conduct outage and maintenance activities which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity.

In order to fulfill these responsibilities in the most effective manner, the Planner/Schedule is empowered to manage work priority, develop job plans, define parts and material, define crafts and skills and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient work control plan.

In addition, the Planner/Scheduler provides the equipment-related expertise and technical guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities: Planner/Scheduler once a valid work request is submitted will prioritize, plan, schedule and follow –up on accuracy of the job plan for all planned (PM, Pdm and corrective) work. There focus is not day to day but is to be proactive and optimize workforce productivity and minimize plant downtime by managing work 2 weeks to 1 month in advance.

In performance of these duties the planner/scheduler has the following responsibilities:

1) Principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operation planning. They ensure the area, department or facility receives professional maintenance service in a timely manner to ensure high equipment availability and performance.

2) Review all planned work request from assigned area and determine validity and accuracy of information and engage the appropriate resources to set a preliminary priority. (Note; emergency work orders are not processed by planner/schedulers)

3) Reviews work request for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification, proper charge number (if applicable), proper authorization, and discuss details with originator of the work order.

4) Identifies work requiring engineering design and reviews them with engineering.

5) Escalates issues to the Maintenance Manager for work which does not appear to be valid or costly.

6) Review the work to be performed and determine the best way to accomplish the work. They will consult with Leads, Supervisors, Originator, Production Supervisors, Area Engineers and Warehouse as necessary.

7) Obtain and organize all information required for the crafts to perform the work: drawings, vendor manual, supplemental instructional materials, special procedures, and other file material which is appropriate. Supplement this information by preparing any additional sketches, drawings, diagrams, notes, or any instructional material which will clarify the work to be performed.

8) Identifies and secures all parts and material required to complete the work by providing stores a Bill of Material for the work order and any special kitting instructions.

9) Work with Stores to manage spare part usage to maximize turns but minimize risk of using critical spares.

10) Approach all aspect of the work being performed with safety as the highest priority.

11) Provide job estimates based on craft or skills required, sequence required and number required.

12) Determine and identify any vendor delivered service for the work order. (i.e., contract vibration service or alignment service)

13) Provide a total cost estimate for the work to be performed: labor, material, and outside services.

14) Manage the status of work control and backlog for work order submission to work order completion. Status may include: waiting for planning, waiting parts, ready to schedule, scheduled, etc.

15) Verifies all material, information, tools and Labor are available prior to scheduling.

16) Works with Maintenance leads, supervisors and contractors to determine resource availability and work to level the work force.

17) Develops a preliminary workforce schedule by crew ensuring all skills requirement and resource availability is met.

18) Actively participate in scheduling meeting with operation partners to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary lead times.

19) Finalize the Maintenance resource schedule based on agreed plan with production.

20) Follow up and communicates schedule to all resources: maintenance, production, outside services, stores and engineering.

21) Issue scheduled work orders with job plan packets to supervisors.

22) Address any questions about the job plan packets.

23) Follow up with supervisors and lead to ensure that completed work job packets are turned in with improvement comments in a timely fashion.

24) Updates Job packets as required for the files.

25) Manage a backlog of work orders which require major or significant portion of the facility to be shutdown.

26) Continuously improves the job estimate, planning and scheduling by receiving feedback from maintenance supervisors, maintenance leads, production supervisors, engineers and production planners.

27) Keep accurate metrics on the performance of planning and scheduling functions and provide timely reports to the Maintenance manager.

 

Position Goals and Measures of Positive Performance:

Performance of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in meeting identified responsibilities is evaluated on the following measures:

1. Schedule compliance: Jobs worked and completed as scheduled

2. Planning compliance: accuracy of information, estimate of labor and material.

Advanced Process Controls Engineer

 

Roberts Companies is looking for an    Advanced   Process Controls Engineer  for our client in the Bay Area. This is a direct hire position.

This position will provide technical expertise for regulatory control, Advanced Regulatory Control (ARC), Advanced Process Control (APC) and logic and Safety Instrumented System (SIS). Including process step testing, process model building, developing inferential models, control configuration/programming, preparing functional specifications, documentation, DCS administration, etc.

 

Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering studies reviewing/administering contractor proposals and other task as assigned.

• Develop and implement new control configuration on existing systems.

• Support the Project and Process Engineering in review of process control and safety

systems design, including PHA, P&ID review and MOC process/procedures.

• Work with OPS Dept. to ensure reliability of process operation and control through daily monitoring of APC performance, alarm logs and system performance.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 5+yrs of Process Engineering experience

• BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical Preferred)

• Experience with Aspen DMCPlus, SmartStep, AspenIQ, AspenWatch, CAPE and Honeywell TPS/Experion • Proficient with MS OFFICE

• Experience working in a Refinery or Industrial environment

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Sr Process Engineer

Roberts Companies is looking for a  Sr. Process Engineer  for our client in the Bay Area.

 

Job Description and Responsibilities:

The Process engineer will provide process technical expertise and services.

  • Prepare, maintain and check process safety information including P&IDs and equipment data sheets.
  • Prepare detailed process design packages for proposed changes and projects, (heat and material balances, PFDs).
  •  Prepare process specifications for equipment and material
  • Identify and develop Process improvements and ensure the ideas are incorporated in the expense and capital plans
  • Troubleshoot Process Operations
  • Participate as a Unit Technical expert on project teams.
  • Provide technical content for operating procedures.
  • Participate in and lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, i.e., MOS, PHA’s and LOPA.
  • Participate in and lead strategic project development initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering - Chemical (Preferred)

Job Summary:

Heavy industrial construction Cost and Schedule Specialist with functions including advanced planning, scheduling, progress measurement, change management implementation and analysis on large capital construction projects. A thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures that includes advanced Planning and Scheduling techniques, Cost Management, Risk Analysis, Risk Management, and support of project objectives. Establish procedures and contractor deliverables for project controls scheduling and earned value cost reporting. Track and manage the field progress and productivity.  Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.  Attend client meetings as necessary, taking the lead on schedule and cost control matters.

  Qualifications:

  • 10 years heavy industrial construction experience at project controls (Scheduling and Cost) a must
  • Expertise at P6 scheduling a must
  • Knowledge of heavy industrial plant construction execution and have the ability to use that knowledge to provide a detailed WBS (work breakdown structure) a must.
  • An independent leader to play a critical role.  The ability to enforce that contractors stick to scheduled commitments a must.
  • Ability to coordinate & organize multiple sources of schedule inputs/performance data into a master schedule platform and deliver project/program status reports as required.
  • Ability to develop and manage a earned value cost and productivity system with multiple sources of baseline inputs and production measures
  • Knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI)Earned Value Cost and Productivity Controls systems a plus
  • Refinery experience is required.
