Lab Technician

This position is part of the quality control group at Martinez Catalyst Manufacturing Site in Martinez California.  Analytical results of intermediate and finished products are used to determine if the process is in control and that finished goods meet specification.  Additionally the person in this position will be an integral part of the ISO 9000 process and involved in critical tasks to maintain ISO 9000 certification.

This is not a Medical Lab Technician.  This is an Industrial Lab Technician position.

Position Responsibilities:

A. HSSE
1. Support Goal Zero and HSSE performance
2. Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a laboratory environment
3. Actively support site HSSE policies and incentive programs

B. Laboratory Duties
1. Sample preparation and analysis of intermediate and finished products using various analytical methods.  Analytical methods use a variety of equipment including ICP, AA and GC.
2. Perform data entry into the laboratory information system database and communicate results to operations.  Completion of all logs and records related to sample analysis.
3. Monitor the inventory of chemicals and supplies in the laboratory using the laboratory inventory system and notify manager when materials need to be ordered.
4. Prepare hazardous and non-hazardous samples for shipment.


C. Quality/ISO
1. Lead Internal Auditor responsible for setting internal audit schedule, coordinating internal ISO audits, producing reports from internal audits and managing ISO non-conformance items in site tracking system.
2. Interface with management on new audit findings, auditor resources and status of ISO non-conformance items (corrective and preventative actions)
3. Maintain statistical quality control systems and highlight cases where analytical results are outside the statistical quality control bands.
4. Work with Research and Development at headquarters to improve existing methods and/or develop new testing methods.
5. Work with Process Engineer to maintain and update laboratory methods manual.


D. Instrumentation
1. Maintain analytical equipment including routine cleaning, parts replacement and general routine maintenance.  Completion of all logs and records related to equipment maintenance.
2. Work with vendors to schedule PM maintenance and calibration services.
3. Maintain records of equipment PM maintenance and calibrations.
Special Challenges
Ability to multi-task is essential for success in this position.  Running multiple analysis/instruments at once is a requirement.  Ability to work effectively with other team members in high stress situations is essential.

Experience and Qualifications Required:
1. College degree with chemistry background with 3+ years experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
2. Experience with ISO systems or working knowledge of ISO systems is required
3. Computer literacy is a must.  Applicant should be comfortable working with computers as the instruments use a variety of software programs.  Required computer skills are a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Sr. Substation Electrical Engineer

Position Description Position Overview:

Responsible for substation engineering including detailed physical design for high voltage substation projects through 500kv. Sr. Electrical Engineer

Roberts Companies is looking for a   Sr. Electrical Engineer   for our client in the Bay Area. This is a contract to position.

 Responsibilities: 

• Provide leadership, technical expertise and business perspective in all areas related to the electrical systems.

• Responsible for electrical systems design, specifications, installation, testing and start up.

• Responsible for maintenance support and reliability of existing electrical equipment.

• Participate in electrical reliability network, industry technical societies, and support engineering standards maintenance and development.

• Assist with maintenance planning and execution of major equipment repairs as needed.

• Manage and coordinate capital projects associated with upgrades and expansions

• Supervise and coordinate work of contractors including liaison with vendors

• Work with outside Power agencies

 

 Qualifications / Requirements: 

• BSEE

• 7+ yrs. experience in the refinery, petrochemical or manufacturing industry

• 3+ yrs experience in the Power distribution systems

• Previous experience with Plant Startups

• IEEE Membership

• PE (preferred)

• Proficient with MS Office, WORD, EXCEL, SAP

• Great organizational skills

• Ability to meet deadlines within budget

• Work with minimal supervision

• Knowledge of industrial safe work practices and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, ISA and API)

- Current TWIC Card Holder or ability to qualify for a TWIC Card
